Borussia Dortmund News Update
Nuri Sahin Excludes Himself From Assistant Coach Role
Club Legend Clarifies Future Plans
In a recent interview with The, Borussia Dortmund legend Nuri Sahin has dismissed the possibility of taking on an assistant coaching role at the club. "I don't see myself as an assistant coach," Sahin said. "I'm still a player, and I want to concentrate on my own career."
Sahin's comments come amid speculation that he could be appointed as assistant to Dortmund's new head coach, Marco Rose. However, Sahin has made it clear that he is not interested in such a role at this stage in his career.
"I still love playing," Sahin said. "I'm fit, and I believe I can still contribute to the team. I want to focus on my own performance and help the club achieve success."
Sahin's decision to rule out an assistant coaching role will come as a relief to Dortmund fans. The 33-year-old is a club legend, having played over 200 games for the Black and Yellows. He is also a popular figure with the fans, and his presence on the pitch is seen as a major asset to the club.
With Sahin now confirming that he will not be taking on an assistant coaching role, Dortmund will likely turn their attention to other candidates for the position. Several names have been linked with the job, including former Mainz coach Bo Svensson and ex-Hoffenheim boss Sebastian Hoeneß.
Dortmund will be hoping to appoint a new assistant coach before the start of the 2022/23 season. The club is looking to build on a successful campaign last season, in which they won the DFB-Pokal and finished as runners-up in the Bundesliga.
