A Tragedy Unfolds at the 'Run for the Roses'
In the days leading up to the iconic Kentucky Derby, a string of untimely deaths has cast a somber shadow over the sport of horse racing.
The first horse to succumb was By My Standards, who collapsed and died on the morning of April 29th. Just hours later, another horse, Eight Rings, was euthanized after suffering a catastrophic injury during training. In the days that followed, five more horses met tragic ends: King Guillermo, Mubtaahij, Girvin, Irish War Cry, and Always Dreaming.
